Shane Caffrey
Shane Caffrey was appointed Vice Consul of Ireland to New England in August 2019.
Originally from Oldcastle, Co. Meath, Shane holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Sociology from Trinity College Dublin, and a Master’s degree in International Peace and Security from Kings College London.
After some travelling, Shane joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2015 where he first worked on the Disarmament and Non-Proliferation desk. Following this he joined the British, Irish and Northern-Ireland Division of the Department of An Taoiseach. In late 2017 Shane returned to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as Assistant Director of Brexit Communications where he was based immediately prior to coming to Boston.
Shane works alongside the Consul-General and the Consulate team to strengthen Ireland’s links with New England; to engage with, and support the wider Irish community; and to promote Irish culture, heritage, and interests.
